As auto manufacturers look to source materials besides cobalt for electric vehicle batteries, the price of cobalt has fallen 40% from its high earlier in 2022. Lithium-iron phosphate batteries have become a popular alternative, driven primarily by demand from China automakers and suppliers, to nickel manganese cobalt batteries.
