Euro NCAP Side Impact: Energy increased by 55 % as of 2020
Currently, the Euro NCAP side crash requirements are met by most new vehicles. A maximum score is not uncommon.
However, from 2020 on the standard will be raised again: The trolley mass is increased to 1400 kg and the crash velocity will be 60 kph instead of 50, and this increases the trolley’s energy by 55 %. In addition, the points distribution for the side crash performance will be distributed in such a way that there will be 2 points less each for the barrier and pole impact, but 4 points for the new Far Side rating.
