Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Monday announced the launch of a $5 billion federal “Safe Streets & Roads for All” initiative, which will help fund municipal projects aimed at making streets safer for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers. “We face a national crisis of fatalities and serious injuries on our roadways, and these tragedies are preventable — so as a nation we must work urgently and collaboratively to save lives,” Buttigieg says.
