ASC membership brings together leading automotive safety organizations committed to collaboration, shared understanding, and advancing automotive safety. Membership provides a forum for engagement across industry, policy, and public safety stakeholders.

There are four categories of membership within the Automotive Safety Council:
System Supplier: limited to those companies selling one or more of the defined product lines (provided on request) to a Vehicle Manufacturer or Tier 1 supplier
Components Supplier: those companies selling auto safety-related components or equipment to a Vehicle Manufacturer, Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier; or manufactures related products
Materials Supplier: those companies selling raw or processed materials involved in auto safety
Sponsoring Member: any company or organization associated with the advancement of auto safety but does not directly provide auto safety products, materials or equipment.
All major systems suppliers are represented on the Council Board of Directors and all components and materials suppliers are eligible to serve on the Board. All members may be represented on all standing committees, with the right to vote on all issues. Sponsoring members, while entitled to all rights and privileges of membership, may serve on all committees in an advisory capacity only, and may not vote.
All applications for Council membership are subject to written approval by the Board of Directors.

Interface with other industry organizations (IIHS, EuroNCAP, Global NCAP, ATSSA, CHoP, AAM, Global Auto and SAE) to reach consensus and take joint action.
Attend the Annual General Meeting with premier global safety speakers / organizations
Provides a point of interface with the NHTSA, NTSB and US Congress that is beneficial to supporting and defining key issues.

ASC membership includes opportunities to:

Represents a majority of the automotive safety supplier base, allowing it to speak for the supplier industry on ADAS, Autonomous, Passive, Interiors and Child Safety.
Provides representation in Washington DC on key industry issues.
Receive a weekly NHTSA recall information and timely industry information.
Interfaces with other industry organizations (IIHS, EuroNCAP, Global NCAP, ATSSA, CHoP, AAM, Global Auto and SAE) to reach consensus and take joint action when needed.
Access to the ASC website about the Council which provides information on key safety issues as well as government and consumer information.
Attend the Annual General Meeting with premier global safety speakers / organizations
Provides a point of interface with the NHTSA, NTSB and US Congress that is beneficial to supporting and defining key issues.
Performs most work through its technical committees which support the automotive safety industry on timely issues that benefit all members.
Produces a Washington DC Technology Fair for Congress every 3-4 years.

Organizations interested in joining the Automotive Safety Council are invited to submit a membership application. Applications are reviewed to ensure alignment with ASC’s mission and collaborative approach.
